The exhibition features queer comics from all over the world, including a number of LGBTI artists from Japan. It’s so exciting to see some of our MASSIVE products, and works by Gengoroh Tagame, Jiraiya, and lesbian mangaka Nakamura Ching given the museum treatment. They even have original copies of the seminal Japanese magazines Fuzoku Kitan (1960s) and Bara Komi (1986) on display!
All off this is presented alongside the works of artists like Tom of Finland, Alison Bechdel, Ralf König, and dozens more influential queer comics artists from all around the world. It makes me happy to see not only gay manga, but queer comics in general treated with reverence and respect within a museum. The show is open until June 26th, 2016, so go check it out if you have the chance!
