One of gay manga pioneer Gengoroh Tagame’s first graphic novels, The Silver Flower (銀の華) is a three-volume 824 page story originally serialized from 1994-1999 in Badi magazine. The original title is Shirogane no hana: danjoro kugaino soushi, which translates to: “The Silver Flower: Diary Of a Life of a Male and Female Prostitute,” and accordingly depicts a highly ritualized world of prostitution during Meiji Era Japan. The centerpiece of the story is one Ginjiro, trapped in a life of sexual exhibition compounded by the decorum of ornamental traditions (think geishas), and male-female role subjugation.
This exquisite re-issue by Pot Publishing (2012) comes in deluxe slip covers and features original full-color cover art. Our copies each come signed by Gengoroh Tagame, the master himself.
