NYCAASC x Hannah K Lee + MASSIVE GOODS

image

This Saturday, April 23rd, around three hundred student leaders and activists will attend the New York City Asian American Student Conference, entering a safe space for racial and sociopolitical dialogue in the service of solidarity and action on the personal and political level.

This year MASSIVE’s own Anne Ishii will team up with letterer-illustrator Hannah K Lee to lead a personal-narrative zine workshop: “Drawing Ourselves in Mini-Comics and Zines.” Covering all aspects of zine making from creating visual themes and delivering artist statements to design and assembly, the workshop will introduce zine-makers to a process they can adapt to creating long-form comics and books.

All you have to do to work on a zine about your life with the editor of MASSIVE: Gay Erotic Manga and the Men Who Make It is register (for FREE) for the NYC Asian American Student Conference.

We’ll have a MASSIVE GOODS merch table there, too, so you can pick up a new logo tee or our sweet new pin set. Come say hey at the Kimmel Center for University Life (60 Washington Square South, NY NY)!

Just dropped off the new MASSIVE Holiday collection and a few Gengoroh Tagame and Jiraiya books with our friends from Youth in Decline. I ran into MASSIVE boss Anne Ishii’s mom, Minah, who brought snacks and posed with the Best Couple. Minah is categorically one of the coolest moms ever.

Go say hi to Youth in Decline booth babes Ryan Sands and Hannah K Lee! And don’t miss Wuvable Oaf creator Ed Luce next to The Humans’ booth. Ed’s new Oafanthology 2 features a wrestling centerfold depicting Goteblüd about to crush an opponent who looks like he’s straight out of a Tagame manga.

CALA is happening right now and all weekend at Think Tank Gallery in downtown L.A.
